Autumn Term 2014: Ullswater Outward Bound Centre
We are pleased to offer your son/daughter the opportunity to take part in an unforgettable weekend of adventure at the Outward Bound Trust’s centre at Watermillock on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. Our Course is designed to strengthen character, promote team work and provide opportunities for challenge in order to improve self-confidence in individuals. There is an expectation that all Year 9 pupils will take part in this course.
We will depart on the morning of Friday 3rd October, using a local coach firm and return at approximately 7pm on Sunday 5th October. The cost of the trip will be approximately £240. This includes all meals, accommodation in dormitories, equipment and transport. The only other cost is a £10 returnable deposit in case of loss or damage to loaned equipment.
Pupils will be supervised by Red House staff and highly experienced, qualified Outward Bound instructors at all times and will take part in two or three activities per day. The Outward Bound trust has an excellent safety record. Pupils will work in groups of 10-12 and will experience activities on both water and land. Pupils are covered under the outbound Bound Trust’s public liability insurance.
This trip will be subject to the conditions of the annual consent form, and will be covered by the schools insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leader. A qualified first aider will be accompanying the trip. Personal items such as mobile phones, personal stereos, iPods or cameras are not allowed. The school cannot be held responsible for the care of these items and the school’s insurance will not cover them. One of the aims of the trip is to encourage a sense of independence. From past experience pupils who continually try to contact home are more likely to feel homesick. However, you can rest assured that if there is a problem we would contact you if we thought it necessary. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
If you would like your son/daughter to take part in this exciting adventure, please complete and return the form below with a deposit cheque for £100 by Friday 28th March.
Please note that money may not be refunded at a later date if your son/daughter is unable to attend and the school is unable to recover the amount paid to the trip organiser.
