Christmas Charity Appeal – Year 6 & 7
As part of our ongoing charity efforts we have decided to resume our collection of gifts for local charities for Christmas this year.
Therefore the purpose of this letter is to ask for your support in this venture. Your child’s year group will be collecting for the Salvation Army’s Teesside Tins appeal. It is estimated that 650,000 people are homeless in Great Britain. Today more than a hundred people in our Teesside area are squatting in disused buildings, sleeping under bridges and in doorways, these people are particularly vulnerable during the cold winter months.
Over this Christmas period the Salvation Army will provide thousands of modest emergency food parcels to homeless families. These will include basic non-perishable tinned foods like soup, fruit, vegetables, beans & pastas, tea bags, sugar, coffee & biscuits. Year 6 and 7 pupils are asked to donate a tin, or two, or six or ten to the Teesside Tins Appeal, and make someone else’s Christmas a little better. The Salvation Army would also be very grateful for donations of second-hand warm winter clothing such as coats, gloves and scarves and toiletries for ladies and gents.
Donations should be delivered to school by Wednesday 9th December.
I am sure you will agree that this is an excellent opportunity to reaffirm our links with local charities. Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
