Red House School DofE Pupils Embrace the Challenge

The weekend began with pupils arriving at camp and preparing for their adventure. After pitching their tents and carefully planning their routes, teams set off to explore the local countryside, putting their navigation and map-reading skills into practice.

With excellent weather conditions throughout the day, pupils showed impressive confidence and teamwork as they tackled their planned routes. Their positive attitude and strong navigation skills ensured a successful first day, with plenty of smiles along the way.

Developing Outdoor Skills Through the DofE Practice Expedition

A key part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme is encouraging young people to develop independence and practical life skills. Back at camp, pupils had the opportunity to demonstrate exactly that as they prepared their own evening meals.

From creative campsite cooking to organising equipment and working together as a team, the groups embraced every aspect of the expedition experience. The evening also provided time to relax, socialise and enjoy the sense of achievement that comes from a day spent outdoors.

Resilience and Determination on Day Two

After an early 6:30am start on Sunday morning, pupils were quickly up, packed and ready for the second day of the expedition.

With the sunshine continuing, each group set out with enthusiasm and determination, demonstrating the resilience, perseverance and positive mindset that are central to the DofE Award. Throughout the day, pupils continued to support one another and successfully completed the challenges set before them.

The expedition was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to build confidence, strengthen friendships and further develop the skills required for their upcoming assessed expedition.
