We decided to set up a Pupil Council to give pupils the opportunity to be more involved in school life and voice their own ideas and opinions. It has been a great success and has given children a sense of worth in having their own ideas take seriously. It has also helped them to understand how we can listen to and work with others to good effect.
At the start of each academic year representatives are chosen from each form. Pupils In Years 2 and 3 write their own manifestos and an election takes place. Pupil Council meetings are held twice each half-term and representatives report back to their forms during form time.
Each half-term one year group chooses the lunch on Favourites Day, and pupils choose which charities to support and organise different fundraising activities to raise money for charities in the local area as well as at a national and international level.
