Red House School’s remarkable academic record continues with another year of tremendous GCSE results

Pupils, parents and staff at Red House School are celebrating the tremendous GCSE results which has seen all pupils achieve 100% of grades 4-9 (previously grades C-A*). Over a third of the GCSE results were grades 8-9 with 66% receiving grades 7-9 (previously grades A-*A).

Mr Ken James, Headmaster, shared his delight; “I am extremely pleased with this year’s GCSE results. I am proud of our pupils who experienced an unusual end to their time at Red House. They showed great strength of character, determination and resilience. They have achieved an impressive set of GCSE results which is richly deserved after all of their hard work. This year’s results are not unusual: Red House has a remarkable academic record.”

Mr James continued: “Our class of 2020 has contributed hugely to the Red House community. I know the challenges they have faced recently will stand them in good stead to deal with any future challenges. Everyone at Red House wishes them the very best for their next steps and beyond.”

Pupils were overjoyed with their results. In particular Jessica achieved the highest grade 9 in all 10 subjects and also grade 9 in further maths. Head Girl, Kathryn, achieved 11 GCSEs at grades 8-9 and grade 9 in further maths. Head Boy, Ashly, also achieved impressive results gaining 9 GCSEs at grades 7-9.  In addition, Anna, Alice, Liv, Francesca, Molly, Pippa and Iyrah all obtained grades 7-9 (previously A*-A) in their subjects. An impressive 29% of all of our pupils achieved straight grades 7-9.

Jessica, who fully embraced sport at Red House which saw her competing nationally in a number of sports such as cross country, football and netball and was crowned national champion in swimming and athletics said:
“I am so happy and overwhelmed. I was nervous collecting my results but I’m very happy with how well I have done. I’m now going to study chemistry, biology, maths and further maths at Durham Johnston.”


Kathryn was Head Girl last year, a talented musician and represented the school nationally in a number of sports including taking part in the National Schools Netball final. She said:
“I’m in shock. I was trying not to think about the results too much and now the moment is here I still can’t take it all in. I joined Red House in Nursery and have loved my time here. I’m now going to study chemistry, biology, maths and psychology at Durham Johnston.”

Ashly, our talented Head Boy said:
“I was very nervous this morning and now I feel a huge relief.  I’m very pleased with my results and now I can go on to study law, history and religious studies at Stockton Sixth Form.”
