Red House School offers both before and after school care for those children whose parents require an extended day. These facilities are run by fully qualified members of staff and offer a safe and caring environment for children outside of normal School hours. A full itinerary of before and after school activities is available in both the Nursery & Infant and Preparatory & Senior School.
WRAP AROUND CARE FOR PREPARATORY & SENIOR SCHOOL
Breakfast Club opens at 7.30 am. All pupils arriving at school before 8.15 am (8.30 am for pupils in Years 4 and 5) must attend Breakfast Club in the Main School hall. Here the children are supervised and, should they require it, may purchase breakfast using cash. At 8.30 am children are escorted outside, unless the weather is inclement, until registration at 8.45 am. There is no charge for Breakfast Club.
Tea & Prep
Each morning during registration your child will need to inform their teacher if they will be staying to tea that day. The first session (Snack only) runs from 4.00p.m. until 4.15p.m. This is for children who are attending a co-curricular activity which does not start until 4.15p.m. This gives them the chance to have a snack and a drink before the club begins. Then there is Tea 1 which runs from 4.00p.m. until 5.15p.m. and Tea 2 from 5.30p.m. until 6.00p.m. with a 15 minute break between the two.
The charge for snack only is £1, Tea 1 is £3.75 and for both sessions it is £6. These charges will be added to your bill retrospectively.
Tea is served at 4.00p.m., usually in the Main Hall and the menu varies daily. Prep sessions begin at 4.20p.m. Pupils who are not taking part in co-curricular activities are expected to bring everything they need in order to do their homework, to work quietly without disturbing others and to have a reading book with them at all times. Once homework has been completed, pupils in years 4-6 are allowed to play board games quietly and have access to drawing materials, word searches and crosswords. During most sessions we have access to computers should they be required for research or typing up of work. Though our sessions are structured, we find that pupils soon settle into the routine and make good use of the time available to them.
At the end of the first session (5.15p.m.) pupils are escorted outside under the supervision of our Tea and Prep Supervisor, Mrs Ford, whilst I continue to supervise those staying until 6.00p.m.
For reasons of security, should you wish to collect your child during, rather than at the end of a session we ask that you wait at the side door and ring the Main School number (01642 553370). A member of staff will arrange to bring your child to you. There is a notice at the side door to this effect. Also, if possible, it would be most helpful if you could use this number to let us know if you are likely to be late collecting your child for any reason. Please note that pupils are not allowed to have their mobile phones switched on in school so will not be able to receive calls or text messages.
I hope you find this information useful, however, should you have any further questions please feel free to call me on the above number.
