Red House School was filled with stories, creativity and colourful costumes as pupils and staff came together to celebrate World Book Day.

World Book Day at Red House School
Pupils at Red House School celebrated World Book Day in style, bringing their favourite stories to life by dressing as beloved book characters. The school community embraced the joy of reading, highlighting the importance of books in inspiring imagination, creativity and curiosity.
World Book Day is an annual celebration that encourages children to explore new stories and develop a lifelong love of reading. At Red House School, the day provided the perfect opportunity for pupils to share their favourite books and authors while taking part in fun, book-themed activities.
Book Swap Encourages Pupils to Discover New Stories
One of the highlights of the day was the Red House School Book Swap, where pupils brought in books they had already enjoyed and exchanged them for something new. The activity encouraged children to discover new authors and genres while sharing their favourite reads with friends.
The book swap created excitement across the school as pupils browsed through a variety of titles, helping to build enthusiasm for reading and encouraging conversations about books.
‘Drop and Read’ Moments Across the School
During the celebrations, pupils took part in ‘Drop and Read’ sessions. At a set time, everyone in the school stopped what they were doing and spent ten minutes enjoying a book.
This shared reading experience highlighted the importance of taking time to read and reminded pupils that even a short moment with a good book can spark imagination and inspiration.
The Red House School Literary Bake Off
Adding a creative twist to the day, pupils also participated in a Literary Bake Off, where they created delicious bakes inspired by their favourite books and characters.
From imaginative cake designs to book-themed treats, the entries showcased both the pupils’ creativity and their passion for literature. The event proved to be a fun and memorable way to combine storytelling with creativity in the kitchen.
Celebrating the Joy of Reading
World Book Day at Red House School was a wonderful celebration of stories, characters and creativity. Through costumes, book sharing and imaginative activities, pupils were reminded of the magic that books can bring.
