Meet the Deputy Head & Head of Senior School

Mr Michael Spiers

A very warm welcome to our Senior School.

At Red House, we want every pupil to do well and to become the very best version of themselves. That means achieving strong academic results, but it also means developing confidence, resilience, good judgement and a willingness to take on challenges.

We are fortunate to have small class sizes, which means that pupils are known very well by their teachers. This matters. It allows us to support pupils when they need it, challenge them when they are ready and make sure that no child simply becomes one of the crowd.

Our pupils are taught by committed subject specialists who care about both their subjects and the young people in front of them. We offer a broad curriculum and, throughout the Senior School, Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught separately. Pupils also continue to benefit from specialist teaching in areas such as Music and Sport.

Academic success is important, but it is only part of what makes a good education. We also place great importance on how pupils behave, how they treat others and how they respond when things do not go their way.

Our RED values, Respect Everyone, Embrace Challenge and Do Your Best, are a simple reflection of what we expect from pupils every day. We want young people to be polite, hardworking, resilient and prepared to take responsibility for their actions.

Senior School is also a time when pupils begin to think more seriously about the future. We want them to leave Red House with strong qualifications, but also with the confidence to speak to others, the resilience to cope with setbacks and the ability to think for themselves in an ever-changing world.

Most importantly, we want pupils to enjoy their school days. We want them to feel that they belong, that they are known, and that the adults around them are genuinely interested in helping them succeed.

I would be very pleased to welcome you to Red House so that you can see our Senior School for yourself and get a real sense of what life here is like.
