Words of Wisdom from Alumnus Phil Adèle (Class of 2003)

Our alumni continue to inspire us long after they leave Red House, and we are proud to spotlight their journeys. This week, we caught up with Phil Adèle, a talented actor who has performed on the West End and across the UK. Phil reflects on the powerful message that has shaped his personal and professional life:

“Go be the best YOU that you can be.”

Phil explained that it took time to fully believe these words. He knows how easy it is to feel as though life is a competition and to worry about being different. But over the years, he has come to see difference as a strength.

Phil shares:

“I’m excited to tell you that different is amazing.
There quite literally isn’t another one of YOU.
You are unique.
You may be similar in many ways to others, but no one is you.
It is your greatest asset, your most unique ability, and your most defining feature.”

He encourages young people to live authentically and to focus on their own journey rather than comparing themselves to others:

“The more you can live your life authentically as yourself (or spend time discovering who you are), the less you will look sideways at what others are doing and instead focus on your own goals, happiness, and growth.
Not many things in this world can’t be replicated. YOU are one of them.
So go be the best YOU that you can be.”

Phil’s message is a powerful reminder that individuality is something to celebrate — and that being true to yourself is one of life’s greatest strengths.
