Alumni Spotlight: Aaron Ray – A Career in Radiology and Medical Research

Aaron joined Red House School in 1993 and remained with us through to his GCSEs before going on to study medicine at the University of Nottingham.

Following medical school, Aaron completed specialty training in clinical radiology with a musculoskeletal subspecialty. During this time, he was awarded the Frank Doyle Medal and achieved a distinction in a Masters in Musculoskeletal Sciences from the University of Oxford.

Today, Aaron works as a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at York Hospital. His role involves interpreting medical imaging, performing image-guided interventions, teaching trainee doctors and conducting research into osteoarthritis and joint problems related to bleeding disorders.

Aaron’s career reflects a commitment to both patient care and medical research. Through his clinical work, teaching and research activities, he is helping to improve outcomes for patients while supporting the development of future healthcare professionals.

Reflecting on his time at Red House School, Aaron highlights the friendships that have stood the test of time:

“Red House taught me so much, but most importantly it taught me the meaning of real friendship. My closest friends from school remain close to this day.”

Aaron’s journey is a wonderful example of how the strong foundations built at Red House School can help pupils pursue ambitious goals and rewarding careers, while also creating lifelong friendships along the way.
