Red House School Achieves Silver School Mental Health Award

Red House School is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Silver School Mental Health Award by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools. Building on our previous Bronze recognition, this achievement highlights our ongoing commitment to promoting the wellbeing and mental health of every pupil.

We are proud to have received the Silver School Mental Health Award, recognising our proactive and comprehensive approach to supporting children’s emotional wellbeing. This award reflects the dedication of our staff, leadership team, and the entire school community in creating a safe, caring, and nurturing environment.

At Red House School, we value the importance of a close-knit community where every child feels safe, valued, and ready to thrive. Our ethos ensures that mental health and wellbeing are embedded into daily life, allowing pupils to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our commitment to pupil wellbeing includes a variety of innovative approaches:

  • ‘Zen Den’ space: a dedicated area for mindfulness and reflection.
  • Mindfulness in the curriculum: helping children develop emotional resilience and focus.
  • Outdoor learning opportunities: encouraging connection with nature and promoting mental health.

A special thank you goes to Mrs Lindsay-Symington, Director of Wellbeing and Pastoral Care, and Mrs Nicola Cooper, Wellbeing Lead (Junior School), whose leadership and dedication have been instrumental in achieving this award.

Commitment to Emotional Wellbeing Dr Rebecca Ashcroft, Head, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Silver School Mental Health Award. This recognition reflects the genuine care and commitment of our whole school community. At Red House, supporting children’s emotional wellbeing is fundamental to their success, and we remain dedicated to ensuring every pupil feels supported, confident, and ready to thrive in school and beyond.”
