Red House School Ranked Top in the North Again and 3rd in the UK

Red House School is delighted to announce that we have once again been recognised as the top independent school in the North in our category by the prestigious Sunday Times Parent Power 2026 league tables.

This year also marks a significant national achievement: we have risen two places and are now proudly ranked 3rd in the UK among independent secondary schools without a sixth form.

This exceptional rise reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care, and a holistic education that supports every child to thrive.

A Nationally Recognised Standard of Excellence

The Sunday Times Parent Power league tables are widely regarded as one of the most authoritative measures of school performance in the UK. Drawing on the latest examination results and expert insight, the tables highlight the very best schools nationwide.

Red House’s achievement of 3rd place nationally further demonstrates the strength and consistency of teaching and learning across the school, and reinforces the impact of our small-school approach.

‘Small is our Strength’: A Close-Knit Community Where Pupils Flourish

At Red House, pupils benefit from small class sizes, personalised teaching, and a warm community where every child is known, valued, and supported. This nurturing environment continues to deliver exceptional outcomes both academically and personally.

A Message from the Head

Dr Rebecca Ashcroft, Head of Red House School, shared her pride in this year’s results:

“I am immensely proud that Red House School has once again been recognised as the top independent school in the North in our category by The Sunday Times Parent Power league tables.

This accolade is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional staff, the hard work and character of our pupils, and the unwavering support of our families.

It is a privilege to lead such a vibrant, nurturing and high-achieving community, and I am delighted to see the outstanding work taking place across our school celebrated in this way.”

A Holistic Education That Goes Beyond the Classroom

This year’s ranking reflects not only exceptional exam outcomes but the wider educational experience at Red House School. Pupils benefit from a rich curriculum, strong pastoral care, and a wide range of enrichment opportunities – all of which help them develop confidence, resilience, and independence.

Families consistently praise the school for its warm, family feel – qualities that set Red House apart from larger schools. With places available throughout the year (subject to availability), more families are discovering the value of a small but high-performing independent school.
