Alumni Spotlight: Lydia Dunn – Supporting People Through Mental Health Care

Red House School alumna Lydia Dunn (Class of 2013) has built a rewarding career in mental health nursing and is now a Ward Manager with Priory Healthcare. Supporting people in crisis and helping them return to their lives, Lydia describes her role as "the most rewarding job in the world."

Lydia left Red House School in 2013 before going on to study A-Levels and an Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care.

She later trained as a Mental Health Nurse in Edinburgh, graduating in 2019, and has since progressed in her career to become a Ward Manager on a male acute inpatient ward with Priory Healthcare.

Now living in the Lancaster area, Lydia supports people experiencing mental health crises and helps them return to their lives. Alongside her career, she is also a proud mum to her daughter, who turns four next month.

Reflecting on her time at Red House School, Lydia credits the school with giving her the strong work ethic that has supported her throughout her education and career. She is also grateful to the teachers who helped shape her journey, particularly Mrs Jones, Ms Roberts and Mr Brown.

Lydia says:

“I always say I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my education at Red House.”

Lydia’s story highlights how hard work, dedication and a passion for helping others can lead to a fulfilling and meaningful career.
