Whole SchoolYear 2 Celebrates Kings and Queens Day
Year 2 pupils enjoyed a memorable Kings and Queens Day, bringing history to life through creative activities, teamwork and royal celebrations. Dressed in magnificent costumes, the children stepped into the shoes of royalty as they explored everything they have learned about the British monarchy throughout the term.

Learning About the British Monarchy Through Fun and Creativity
The day began with Year 2 proudly showcasing their regal outfits while reflecting on their studies of the British monarchy. From kings and queens of the past to modern royal traditions, pupils demonstrated their knowledge and enthusiasm for this fascinating topic.
The classroom was filled with excitement as children revisited their learning about castles. Using their creativity and problem-solving skills, they designed and built their own impressive castle structures. Teamwork was at the heart of the activity, with pupils collaborating to bring their royal fortresses to life.
Castle Building Encourages Teamwork and Imagination
Castle construction provided the perfect opportunity for children to apply what they had learned about medieval life and royal residences. Working together, pupils carefully planned, designed and built castles, showcasing excellent communication skills and imaginative thinking.
The activity highlighted the importance of collaboration while encouraging children to explore historical themes in a hands-on and engaging way.
A Royal Banquet and Coronation Celebration
In the afternoon, the royal festivities continued with a banquet fit for kings and queens. Pupils shared their favourite foods while enjoying the atmosphere of a traditional royal celebration.
The excitement didn’t stop there. Children took part in a range of royal-themed activities, including ribbon twirling and jousting, before the day culminated in a special coronation ceremony. The event was a wonderful way to celebrate their learning and create lasting memories with classmates.
A Day to Remember for Year 2
Kings and Queens Day was a fantastic celebration of learning, creativity and teamwork. Through costumes, castle building and royal festivities, Year 2 pupils deepened their understanding of the British monarchy while enjoying a truly unforgettable experience.
