JuniorYear 5 Learn About Games Design with Industry Expert Mr Makin
Year 5 pupils enjoyed an exciting and inspiring visit from Mr Makin, a professional games designer, who shared insights into his career in the gaming industry and explained how video games are created from concept to completion.
Mr Makin spoke to Year 5 about his job in games design, breaking down the many different elements involved in creating modern video games. From coding and artwork to storytelling, sound design and testing, pupils learned that game development is a collaborative and creative process.
He also explained how he got started in the games industry, sharing his own journey and the skills needed to pursue a career in games design. This gave pupils a valuable real-world perspective on how interests in technology, creativity and problem-solving can develop into future career opportunities.
The children were highly engaged and loved asking questions about how their favourite games are made. One of the highlights of the session was discovering that Mr Makin is currently working on a top-secret games project, which sparked plenty of excitement and curiosity among the class.
